Wall Street Journal Tests 24-Hour Guest Pass with Non-Subscribers
Two weeks ago the Wall Street Journal began experimenting with its hard paywall, offering 24-hour guests passes to non-subscribers who accessed a WSJ article through a link from a WSJ journalist, a WSJ subscriber or via social media. When accessing an article, a guest pass offer pops up and non-subscribers are asked to provide an email address in exchange for access to content for the next 24 hours. It is expected that this experiment will lead to others to help WSJ get in front of more casual readers and making its content more discoverable without committing its prized content to Facebook Instant Articles or Facebook Live.
