By Minal BopaiahApparently, access to a tablet device does not necessarily translate into eBook sales, according to a new report by Simba Information. The report finds that only half of iPad owners read eBooks on their device, compared with 75.2% of Kindle Fire owners,This is an important device statistic for subscription sites, especially those offering eBook subscriptions.PRevious research has found that iPad owners tend to be more affluent and willing to spend money on content. The Simba report upholds that stereotype, although with a new twist: it looks like iPad owners buy more media overall, including print.Specifically, 43.8% of adults bought a paperbook book in the past year, compared with 56% of iPad owners. And 15% of iPad owners bought a hardcover book, compared to only 11% of adults. What does that mean for paid content sites? iPad owners might still be a good pool for qualified prospects, but anyone looking to sell eBooks or eBooks subscriptions would be wise to format their content for the Kindle, too.
