LinkedIn just introduced a new feature for its Company Pages that will allow organization to target and customize posts. For those unaware, LinkedIn can be a powerful social media platform for thought leaders and B2B businesses. Over the years, the company has encouraged users to optimize profiles and feed its content stream with “influencer” posts (which, apparently, anyone can create now). But the new tool on Company Pages indicates a slight shift by the social media giant, one that is perhaps more business- and recruiter-friendly.Each company page allows for “followers,” and administrators can now target followers to see a post based on the his/her company size, industry, function, seniority, geography or language preference.

The only catch, as seen in this screenshot, is that your the targeted audience must contain at least 100 followers.LinkedIn is also allowing company’s to customize a post, either by target audience or simply in general. For example, when I inserted the headline and link for a recent blog post, the image running with the article did not automatically appear. Because images are known to increase engagement via social media, I want to make sure to include one, and thankfully, the box to the left allows me to upload an image to run with the post.

You can also click on the headline or preview text and alter it. This is a tremendous customization feature — one that is sorely missing on a lot of other posting software — that will allow marketers to entice targeted audiences in the right way.

Just make sure your customized copy isn’t deceptive in any way!
