Subscription Content is looking for a part-time Writer/Researcher for our online trade publication for digital subscription executives.We’re at an inflection point as a business, and we’re looking for the right person to help us grow to the next level.The Writer/Researcher will be responsible for both content creation and brand management. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves and busy position. Your customers are top executives from subscription and membership sites, ranging from name-brand consumer newspapers and magazines to niche B2B and industry information publications. Your beat will be the business of growing a paid subscription publication or app, from tech to finances to marketing, based on real-life, proven tactics.Responsibilities include: 

• Daily blog posts (300 words or less – you must be able to write short!)
• Daily social media postings on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
• In-depth Case Studies or Company Profiles – based on exclusive interviews and published bi-weekly
• Practical How-To content covering marketing, technology, financial, and legal compliance
• Special research projects to assist with creating our benchmark reports and handbooks
• Commenting on third-party blogs, forums and groups when appropriate
• Actively managing the editorial calendar
• Working with marketing to refine promotions
• Loading, posting and updating site content on our CMS (WordPress)
• Pitching in to help with live events, with the opportunity to speak if desired.

Type of content: We are generally form agnostic, instead choosing to focus on how form can improve upon learning and comprehension of complex topics for our time-crunched audience. We presume busy executives don’t have time for lengthy articles that meander. Instead, we try to provide concise and engaging content and resources, such as slide decks, checklists and data tables. When a topic warrants a lengthy article (such as a Case Study) we format for easy skimming. You will work with the audience and Executive Editor to determine the best format for your content.Company Culture and Staff: We are a small company of self-starters who hate to micro-manage, so we’re looking for another self-motivated individual to join our highly efficient team. While all of our employees work virtually and we’re willing to consider candidates from all over, we prefer to work with someone in DC so that you can meet with the Executive Editor at the National Press Club on occasion. You will be provided with a laptop computer, fully loaded with the software you will need. Employees are responsible for their own phone and Internet connection.Travel Requirements: Travel to our annual conference (this year in DC on Oct 1-2) is required. After six months, the person hired for this position may also be asked to travel to industry conferences and events to represent the publication. T&E for any travel will be paid in advance or reimbursed promptly.
