Spin’s Subscription iPad App Acquired by BuzzMedia, Along With Other Assets

But the publication has expanded its digital offerings in recent years, culminating in an enviably designed iPad app called Spin Play. What makes the Spin Play so great is that it uses the uniqueness of the tablet medium to its advantage — readers can stream…

Subscription Billing Can Work Around New E.U. Ruling on Download Resales

A European court has ruled that consumers can re-sell their downloads, just as they would re-sell boxed CDs, DVDs and used books. The case was brought by Oracle against UsedSoft, a site that buys and sells used software licenses. But it also likely means that consumers who download MP3, PDFs, or video files (like recorded Webinars) can resell those downloads to other consumers. This can threaten many paid content sites who look to make money off one-off…

Twitter Cuts Off Service to LinkedIn, Will It Affect Your Site Traffic?

This just in: Twitter has cut off tweets on its site from LinkedIn, ending the two year partnership between the two social networking sites, reports CBSNews.com. What does this mean exactly? Kindle and Nook Collect Customer Data, But Stingy About Sharing

Online and independent publishers have been frustrated for a while now by the lack of customer data they can collect after making their content available on e-readers like the Kindle and Nook. But that doesn’t mean Amazon and Barnes & Noble haven’t been amassing more data than they can use, to paraphrase one executive. Amazon is still tight-lipped about much of it’s useful data, opting to share useless “stats” like the fact that people like the…
